UNDER WHERE?

the Electrode Bra by Lucy Dunne
lucy dunne has just started at ph.d. at UCD. now, if i had to bet money on who’ll be most likely to turn this wearable thing into a commercially viable option, my top bets would be elise co as a designer making cool things that people actually want, and lucy dunne as a designer who will make things that actually work.
one of lucy’s projects, the Electrode Bra, is intended for health monitoring. of course, lucy also mentioned that philips research has developed something similar, underpants and a bra which also monitor ECG, using dry electrodes, and another researcher who has developed a non-contact method for monitoring ECG. (i don’t have this link! lucy, will you comment on this post and share?)
with many publications already under her belt, you bet you’ll be hearing more about this girl in the future…

there’s the abstract of the longer paper on the method–it uses electrical field sensors instead of electrical potential sensors as used in traditional electrode-based ECG. haven’t seen it in real life, but the data looks amazing. sounds like an ideal solution to a really important problem in wearables! (can you tell i’m excited about this? :))
ps thanx for the kind words
