SONIC FABRIC is woven from 50% polyester thread and 50% pre-recorded 1/8″ audio cassette tape. It has the texture and strength of a light canvas, with an elegant, mysterious metallic lustre. Alhough it was originally created solely for use in my own works of conceptual art, SONIC FABRIC has found its way into very practical and functional applications in fashion, accessory, and interior design. In addition to being beautiful and durable, the material can be “heard” by running a tape head across its surface.
